🦋 Word for Today 🦋
It’s okay to feel your emotions and still trust God.
It’s okay to feel angry, saddened, fearful, and hurt and still believe that God has everything under control.
Too often, Christians hear that they need to remain joyful, to persevere, to basically pretend that everything is okay, to ignore the fullness of their emotions.
Trusting in God is a heart posture, not a feeling, but all too many times we believe that our emotions must ‘fall in line’ to fully trust God.
The Gospel of Luke recalls a moment in Christ’s ministry when He was in agony until His sweat became like droplets of blood.
Hematohidrosis, the condition of sweating blood, is a rare medical condition brought on by extreme stress, anxiety, and fear.
The Bible states that Christ was in a state of agony (intense mental pain), to the point where He asked the Father to remove the cup from Him. Yet, even in this state, Christ says Not my will, but yours be done.’
Surrendering to God’s will does not erase your emotions. You can feel them deeply and passionately and still trust in God’s plan.
The lesson that God shared with me: ”You’re allowed to feel and express your emotions. The issue comes with how you act on them.”
Be in your feelings, but trust God through them.
Signed,
