About Me
Hi there.
My name is Nickay. I’m an author, blogger, and fashion designer/illustrator. I’m also a recent and proud graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (go Tigers!!) I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design (Sportswear Concentration) and a Minor in both Math and Art History. I also studied African History and Civilization and Caribbean History.
As a Jamaican-born woman growing up in the British Virgin Islands, my inspirations have always come from my culture. I believe that sharing my views and experiences with school, life, and spirituality will help to impact those who struggle with expressing who they are.
Two of my biggest influences are my mother, whose spirituality and faith have impacted me profoundly, and Kristin, my mentor in fashion and whose work ethic and jovial and helpful spirit I’ve always admired.

Why The Back Lemon
Typically, when you hear of the black lemon, the first thing you think of is the spice—they have a smoky taste, and brings strong flavor to any dish. It’s used mainly in the East as a part of their cuisine. The Black Lemon is a major digestive aid, which helps to reduce toxins and cleanse the intestines.
The term is used as a double entendre. The first being, this blog will bring a unique flavor to all the other blogs out there—it will bring challenges, truths, and just things to think about. It will be the new ‘spice of the internet’. But also ‘Black’ here refers to race. The Black woman who speaks about issues within the Black community that may not always sit well with some people, but in the end, it’s tartness and acidity brings nourishment to the soul.
I hope that you will enjoy this blog, find its content interesting and shareable, and it will help you have a new and fresh take on life. Remember to like, share, and comment and any post you find interesting.
