Let. Them. Win.

1–2 minutes

Ever since I’ve known myself, I always believed I needed to defend my integrity and protect my honor.

The stories told about me behind my back were one-sided and untrue, and they always left out the reasons for my actions.

I defended everything I did, every choice I made.

Then God spoke to me:

“Let them win.”

God’s Word for Today

Our Defense is God

Christ stood before Pilate in silence, refusing to defend Himself, instead, accepting what many would think was a fate doomed from the start.

In His silence, Christ knew that His actions fulfilled a greater purpose, one that others couldn’t see. His death held a meaning that His accusers didn’t understand.

In this same way, the Spirit reminds us that our mission and calling are greater than what is before us. Defending ourselves to man shapes the idea that we answer to human authority, ignoring the truth that we answer to God’s calling only. When we make decisions, our actions are wholly ours, understood only by us and God.

It’s tempting to defend your name, but it is God who will ultimately vindicate you. He defends you, He protects your purpose. He is saying to you, “Let them win.”
