To the Girl Who Feels Worthless…

4–6 minutes

There is nothing that is worth more than the dirt that we trample on.

It was the year 2020 when I asked God the question that the poet RuNett Ebo asked: “Why did you make us Black?”

It was a difficult question to ask, but His response was intriguing, enlightening, and something I’d never forget.

The Psalmist, David, declares:

In the beginning, God created humankind in His image, instilling in us the authority to rule and govern this earth. As sin entered the world, it became clear that His perfect plan for us involved redemption.

Yet … despite our sinful nature, God saw the worth in His creation, and He valued us so much that He saw it fit to sacrifice His life to restore us to Himself.

The book of Romans tells us:

As God’s grand masterpiece, we were created in Christ to do the good works that God prepared for us beforehand.

Even though we were shrouded in darkness, God was faithful enough to call us into His light and to declare us chosen and royal.

Growing up, we always sang the song “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world.” Perhaps some of the lyrics in this song may be considered ‘politically incorrect’ today, but the statement is still true.

Regardless of our race, we are all created in God’s image, and we are all loved by God. The Book of John says:

You are fearfully and wonderfully created by God. You are His grand masterpiece, the best of His holy work that can never be replaced.

Signed,
